Breathing life back into an Edwardian cocktail chair.
This sophisticated little cocktail number is an Edwardian Tub chair that has been restored to an extremely high standard using a sumptious navy velvet and sassy tangerine and ivory woven designer fabric. The smart woven fabric with a mesmerising diamond zig zag design is called Tanuki. In traditional Japanese folklore, the tanuki is a magical fox-like dog known for its mischievous nature and shape-shifting abilities!
This chair is slightly smaller than your average armchair and would serve as an occasional chair in the home or perfect resting spot in a bar, cafe, hotel lobby or office reception area. Edwardian furniture was a lot smaller than Victorian because as homes became a lot smaller, so too did the furniture. Pieces became more compact and ornate, with inlays, carved legs, brass mounts, and satinwood banding, all becoming popular once again.
The Hugo design is avaliable for other chairs in need of restoration. Please contact Caroline for more details.
